At IRT, this radically new re-envisioning of the award-winning musical Jay started performing over 20 years ago blends live performers with personal, never-seenbefore footage of the Twin Tower ruins, the WTC site rebuilding Jay participated in, and his many attempts to rebuild himself by telling his story in standup clubs, theatre festivals, and Off-Broadway. Staged in an immersive world where Jay is trapped between a piano he can’t hear and a growing caption screen he wants to avoid, he must not only relive this story one more time, but also sing and play the piano while profoundly deaf.
