‘One Person Show’ is a specific theater genre. The show depends on you and … the spectators, who come to see you perform some kind of magic. This workshop welcome both SERIOUS and CURIOUS participants: (YOU) in creating your own one person show. It will be tailored to your interest, your personality, your style, and your journey. Monique Holt (I) will show you her box of tools: techniques, strategies, ideas, and many joys in creating your one-person-show. You will become your own dramaturg, your own director, your own critic… and how to give self analysis.

Recommend you to bring your notebook, coloring pencils/pens, and laptop or smart phone to record your exercises-performances. At the end of this workshop, you will be expected to create 10 to 15-minutes piece to try on our spectators on Friday and Saturday.

IRT Theater is a grassroots laboratory for independent theater and performance in New York City, providing space and support to a new generation of artists. Tucked away in the old Archive Building in Greenwich Village,  IRT’s mission is to build a community of emerging and established artists by creating a home for the development and presentation of new work. Some of the artists we have supported include Young Jean Lee, Reggie Watts and Mike Daisey.

This program is supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, New York State Council on the Arts, and The Nancy Quinn Fund, a project of ART-NY.

PLEASE NOTE: All sales final and there is no late seating at IRT Theater.
